“We believe it’s important that an organization gets all the return from its transformation without it being eroded by day-to-day issues.”

Meet Managing Director Robin

Robin Lammerts has been working in healthcare IT for over 25 years. He’s always had one goal in mind: to improve healthcare. A mission he’s now also pursuing at Eraneos (previously known as Quint) as Managing Director of the Healthcare & Life Sciences team. “We want to make healthcare work better,” Robin explains. “We achieve this by optimizing the primary process, i.e., exactly where the healthcare professionals themselves are active. We constantly ask ourselves how we can make their work more efficient and, above all, more enjoyable.”

By answering these questions, healthcare institutions — and thus healthcare itself — are raised to a higher level. “To achieve this, it’s crucial to have a good understanding of healthcare,” Robin explains. “This is reflected in our team, for example. Everyone in it is a passionate consultant with an intrinsic drive to improve healthcare. They have years of experience in the sector — or even a background in healthcare. As a result, everyone understands this world, from its systems and processes to its politics. For example, one of our consultants previously worked as an oncology nurse at a hospital. He then moved into the EHR domain and realized that he didn’t want to apply his knowledge to just one healthcare organization, but to many. This shows how everyone brings their own experience to projects so we never need to reinvent the wheel. That’s adding value to the max.”

And it’s reflected in the results. “We are rapidly increasing our footprint in healthcare,” Robin says proudly. “We have taken on challenging projects and developed best practices.” For example, they advised Amstelland Ziekenhuis (a hospital in the Netherlands) on their electronic health record (EHR) system. The following key issues were involved. Is the current system still adequate in terms of functionality? Is it achieving sufficient return? Or is it time to implement a new EHR system? The results were clear: it was time for a state-of-the-art system. The implementation is currently in full swing in close collaboration with Amstelland’s chain partner Amsterdam UMC.

Impact after going live

But this certainly isn’t the only project that has made an impression. Robin: “For another hospital, we were involved in preparing the implementation of the new version of their EHR. We did preliminary research and drew up various implementation scenarios. Should you be brief and concise or extensive, or should you go for the golden mean with a phased implementation? And very importantly, what impact will these scenarios and changes have on resources and finances? The answers immediately provided a good basis and prevented financially painful decisions for the healthcare institution afterwards.”

In every project, the focus is not only on providing advice, but also on the implementation and the change it brings about. “Projects often have a head and a tail,” Robin explains. “That’s logical, of course, but we don’t stop after the tail — we also expressly look at what happens after going live. We believe it’s important that an organization gets all the return from its transformation without it being eroded by day-to-day issues. Therefore, with our proactive attitude we ensure that the systems are actually used and thus create value for the professionals on the job. That’s how you make a lot of impact as a consultant.”

Personal attention

“Our ambition is to grow this consulting practice substantially,” says Robin. “However, in doing so, we will most definitely put quality before quantity. We believe in the right job for the right person. We always apply that principle when we assign our consultants to a project. This is not only valuable for the customer, but also for our own people. I believe it’s important that everyone can get all the energy out of a project and that you can get everything out of yourself, too. Paying personal attention to each other lies at the heart of this. It’s also reflected in our short lines of communication, enjoyable work environment and many feedback opportunities. There’s a good reason why, for several years, we’ve been a certified Great Place to Work®!”
