Senior Consultant Noor on her project at the UMCU
Working on captivating projects where technology, healthcare processes, and collaboration converge? At Eraneos, you get the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the future of healthcare, and with leading organizations. Noor de Ruiter, Senior Consultant and Information Manager, shares her experience: “I was involved in the transition to a shared Electronic Patient Record (EPR) for three major hospitals. This large-scale HiX 6.3 migration at the UMC Utrecht, Princess Máxima Center, and Central Military Hospital presented significant challenges in the healthcare sector, to which I contributed with great satisfaction.”
A shared mission for better healthcare
“When I started the project, I suddenly found myself in the middle of a rapidly evolving healthcare sector. UMC Utrecht, the Princess Máxima Center, and the Central Military Hospital were already collaborating, but a shared EPR was intended to ensure more efficient care processes and better patient care. At the same time, a clear administrative separation between the institutions had to remain in place. This presented a unique combination of technical and human challenges.”
Each of the three hospitals had its own unique requirements and working methods, making a personalized solution essential. “We worked intensively with healthcare professionals who did everything they could to provide the best care for their patients,” Noor explains. “At the same time, we had to ensure that the new system would actually make their work easier and more efficient. That felt like an opportunity to really make a difference in the healthcare sector.”
By creating one central EPR for three hospitals, care processes became more efficient.”
Tight deadlines and innovative solutions
One of the biggest challenges? The fixed timeline set by the software vendor. “Normally, you determine your own schedule and can handle it flexibly,” Noor explains. “However, in this project, we had to adapt our approach to the vendor’s timeline. This forced us to switch gears quickly and find creative solutions within a limited timeframe.”
The Eraneos team opted for an iterative approach, continuously gathering feedback from both healthcare staff and technical partners. “Eraneos’ methodology, where we involve end-users from the start, was crucial,” Noor says. “It ensured that the system seamlessly aligned with daily practice. By consistently engaging in conversation, we were able to deliver truly customized solutions. It was that dedication that made the difference.”
The highlight: the launch
“One of the most memorable moments for me was the go-live of the new system,” says Noor. “It felt like a huge milestone. After months of preparation and collaboration, we finally reaped the rewards of our hard work. The best part was seeing how the healthcare providers could immediately start working with the system and noticed positive changes in their daily routines.” After the launch, the real work only began. “We immediately addressed remaining issues and started working on optimizations. It felt great to not only create something, but also to actively work on further improvement.”
What made Noor choose Eraneos?
What makes working at Eraneos so special, according to Noor, is the combination of challenging projects and intensive collaboration with colleagues and clients. “At Eraneos, you feel that your work has an impact. Whether you’re working on a large healthcare project or a smaller implementation, you know you’re making a valuable contribution. Additionally, you work with driven professionals, all striving for the same goal: achieving the best results together.”
The collaboration with the hospitals was essential to the project’s success. “What particularly struck me was how helpful everyone was. From the program team to the healthcare providers, everyone wanted to work together towards the same goal. That made the work not only more effective, but also more enjoyable.”
Make the difference
Thanks to Noor’s strategic guidance, the three hospitals now collaborate efficiently within a shared EPR. The improved information exchange and access have led to more efficient collaboration and more time and attention for the patient. “This project demonstrates how technology and healthcare can go hand in hand to make a lasting impact.”
For Noor, it was a project full of challenges, learning experiences, and satisfaction. “At Eraneos, you get the opportunity to really make a difference. Whether it’s about healthcare, technology, or collaboration: it’s always about impact that lasts.”
